About

remain hear is a site-specific ambient performance series led by Sri Lankan American composer and sound artist Dharsan Chandrakumar, where strings resonate beyond the stage — in tunnels, galleries, warehouses, and other architecturally or acoustically interesting environments.

Each event brings together a rotating ensemble of string players (called ‘creators’) who improvise in response to the space itself, guided by Dharsan’s evolving catalog of improvisation techniques. No two performances are the same. The architecture shapes the phrasing. The air becomes part of the ensemble.

Attendance is limited. Each performance is recorded — but only those who were present are given the chance to stream remain hear’s music. To honor the moment, the location, and the listeners who helped shape the sound.
